Mrsa Infection – Treatment Using Antibiotics
MRSA infection are treated by using antibiotics in leading health care offices that follow the western method of approach for combating the MRSA germ. Antibiotics are drugs that help in slowing the growth of harmful bacteria or stopping their growth. Antibiotics are in use since 1930 and are generally classified into two major type’s namely broad spectrum antibiotics which can treat many kinds of bacteria and narrow spectrum antibiotic which are helpful in treating only specific kinds of bacteria. Antibiotics can be administered in a patient either through intravenous mode or through oral intake which depends on the type of the antibiotic. In case of mrsa infection, doctors are often confused about the proper antibiotic that is advisable for a specific MRSA and so end up in misdiagnosis. Doctors who have had experience in treating patients with mrsa infection often prescribe the right antibiotic due to their vast experience though the most accurate method of selecting an antibiotic is by performing a microbial susceptibility test which will help in identifying the correct antibiotic for a particular infection in a particular person. Some of the antibiotics that are used for treating the MRSA type of infections are sulfa drugs, bactrim, tetracyclines, Xyvox and vanocin. But there have been reports that MRSA has developed resistance to Vanocin and this type of MRSA is called as Vancomycin resistant staphylococcus aureaus (VRSA).
